Senior Associate - Interiors Focus

Michael Hsu Office of Architecture is an award-winning, fully integrated architecture and interior design practice with offices in Austin and Houston. Our firm is seeking an interior design Senior Associate with experience in luxury hotels, restaurants and high-end residential projects to join our team.

Our work is rooted in hospitality and placemaking and includes diverse projects that range from large mixed-use developments, adaptive reuse projects, public realm design, architectural branding, single family homes, hotels, restaurants, workspaces, and bespoke furniture design. We work throughout Texas and across the country in cities such as New York, Los Angeles, Chicago, Atlanta and Denver.

Responsibilities to include:

• Design of projects on a variety of scales
• Coordinate and oversee project teams including multiple consultant coordination
• Technical leadership in a variety of project types, hospitality experience a plus
• Translation of design concepts into construction documents
• Mentoring and coaching of junior staff
• Office leadership projects and responsibilities as assigned
• Material sourcing and specification
• Custom furniture design, visual research
• Mood board creation
• Furniture sourcing
• Graphic and visual presentations



Skills and Education required:
• Positive attitude and experience leading teams
• Experience with staff development preferred
• Knowledge of architectural practice, including design, documentation, detailing, building materials, building codes and construction technologies
• Demonstrated design skills
• Demonstrate technical proficiency and creative problem solving
• Strong verbal, written and graphic communication skills
• Ability to multi-task & work on multiple projects concurrently
• Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Architecture or Interior Design
• 10+ years’ experience in design & construction documents of single family residential and/or commercial projects in Austin or Houston
• Proficient in Revit/BIM, AutoCAD, Sketch Up, Adobe Creative Suite, Excel
• Registered Architect or Interior Designer strongly preferred
