Plus one is a progressive, award-winning design and construction firm that employs the latest ideas, strategies, and technologies.  With over 100 years of combined experience in the design and construction industries, we tailor a suite of services unique to the goals and challenges of each specific endeavor. 

We design projects we do not construct, and construct projects we do not design; however, we prefer to combine these two services - providing our clients with a single source, turn-key building solution.   We believe the design-construction approach provides our clients with the best value while controlling quality and adhering to schedules.  

With offices in Dallas and Baton Rouge, our team is committed to design excellence regardless of project size and budget.  Over the past five years, we have received 12 AIA design awards on local, state, regional, and national levels for various residential, commercial, and planning projects.   We are known for our resourceful, contemporary, and socially responsible approach.

Single Family Residential

Under the Oak Tree: The guest room is tucked under a majestic live oak tree. The modern addition clad with an ipe rain-screen hovers over the tree’s delicate root system - supported with a series of coil footings. The room’s orientation and corner window system, allow guests to literally sleep under the oak tree.
Under the Oak Tree: New paving connects the main entrance with a reconfigured visitor parking area. The outdoor paving elements extend from the entry court, through the house, out into the landscape beyond and terminate with a fire pit and seating area overlooking the pond.
Under the Oak Tree: The existing entry and enclosure were outfitted with a new stair that floats in a light shaft that terminates with a series of operable skylights. The two story orange wall creates a memorable entry experience as well as a dramatic connection between the first and second floors.
Under the Oak Tree: The master bedroom is flanked by a substantial master closet and a private courtyard equipped with an outdoor shower. The master bath renovation – part of the original home - flows seamlessly into the courtyard.
Scissor House: The design capitalizes on the site’s mature trees to provide ample shade and filtered sunlight. This enhances the owner’s ability to find a comfortable, outdoor space at almost any time of the day during every season of the year. Leveraging the outdoor spaces allows this small, modest house to live big.
Scissor House: All of the essential living spaces of the house are on the first floor and designed to allow the client to age-in-place. All living spaces in the house have large sliding glass panels that access outdoor rooms
Kiwi House: The porch and screen wall were configured to provide the owners with the privacy and security they needed while, at the same time, maintaining an openness to the street and connection with their neighbors.
Kiwi House: The metal roof and siding are 100% recyclable with the entire house designed in 2 foot increments, minimizing the amount of overall building material waste. The large overhangs and protruding exterior walls shield all of the exposed windows which prevent direct sunlight.
