The practice of architecture necessitates taking calculated and creative risks. All great achievements in architecture have been the result of calculated risks, both by the architect and by the client. Yet, a design flaw can have catastrophic safety and financial implications. Then there’s the design/build practice model. Business practices can lead to success or to the necessity of closing the firm’s doors. This four-part series will explore the risks of practicing architecture and how to mitigate those risks without becoming incapacitated in an effort to be safe. The series will include some common pitfalls in specific project types and a review of recent State of Texas legislative actions that have a significant impact on architectural practices.
March 1 - Business of Architecture
June 7 - Contract Basics and Legislative Updates
