The Dallas Chapter of the American Institute of Architects and the Architecture and Design Foundation are thrilled to announce the IMPACT DALLAS GALA to be held on Thursday, November 4 at The National in downtown Dallas. Our goal in developing this event is to elevate awareness of the impact of architecture and design on the community. Design thinking has the power to improve daily life, address the needs of the community, and unlock the economic potential of the city.
The event will honor three award recipients: Larry Good, FAIA is receiving the AIA Dallas Lifetime Achievement Award, Deedie Rose, Hon. AIA is receiving the George Foster Harrell Award, and the AD EX Community Cornerstone Award winner will be announced at the Gala. In addition to honoring our impressive award recipients, guests will be treated to a glamorous evening of celebration and inspiration replete with unexpected artful experiences. This gala will be a special experience for those who love and appreciate the value of art and architecture.
Entertainment at this year’s Gala includes live music by The Raul Reyes Jazz Quartet and Limelight, immersive art vignettes, a silent auction, and more; all with a nod to the 1960’s style of the newly renovated Thompson Hotel at The National.
You are invited to sponsor a table, purchase tickets, or volunteer. Your support helps us forward our shared mission at the Architecture and Design Foundation and AIA Dallas.
The goal of this year’s Gala is to raise $175,000 in support of design excellence, community impact, and the future generations of Dallas architects. With the funds raised at the 2021 IMPACT DALLAS GALA:
30% of your support will be essential funding for the public programs the Foundation currently provides to educate the public about the relevance of architecture and design and its impact on our communities.
The Architecture and Design Foundation is a nonprofit cultural organization whose mission is to encourage the conversation about how architecture matters in our daily lives through our public programming. The Foundation’s programs aim to achieve the following goals:
- Educate the individuals of all ages about the history, impact, and importance of architecture in Dallas.
- Support students and young leaders interested in pursuing an education and career in architecture.
- Provide a platform for local architects and designers to share their professional expertise and explore their interests.
70% of your support will go toward the Design Awareness Endowment Fund, allowing the Architecture and Design Foundation to provide grants to community-based projects.
The Foundation’s Design Awareness Endowment Fund supports programs and collaborations between the community to architecture and design. Programs funded build awareness of the positive social, economic, and environmental impacts of architecture. As this endowment fund grows, we aspire to begin and maintain a robust community grants program that puts architecture in action to address quality of life issues that many communities in our city face.
This fund also supports the AIA Dallas Emerging Leaders Program and a portion of the proceeds from this year’s Gala will be granted to the nonprofit partner of this year’s ELP Class, Camp Summit. The Emerging Leaders Program (ELP) identifies, cultivates, and mentors young leaders in three areas of leadership: the firm, the profession, and the community. For 12 years, each class of ELP graduates has provided pro-bono design services across the Dallas/Fort Worth area and creating design solutions for issues facing communities who are most in need in our city.
