With client interest in net zero increasing and upcoming AIA 2030 goals not too far away, it is critical for Architects and Engineers to consider various options for reducing energy use. This presentation will offer attendees both passive and active design strategies for reducing energy use in our projects as we work towards goals for net zero.

Learning Objective 1: Attendees will be able to name the critical elements and describe a process for reducing energy use in projects to meet net zero.

Learning Objective 2: Attendees will be able to explain how decarbonization and electrification impact energy efficiency.

Learning Objective 3: Attendees will be able to clarify the relationship between embodied carbon and operational carbon, over time.

Learning Objective 4: Attendees will be able to discuss a 5-step process for decarbonization.
